This one was sent into me via the message feature.  From how his site and Faceboook read, I am guessing that he is a hobbyist that is trying to break into different fields of photography by using other photographers works to represent his own and create ads.  I know I’ve said this but I’ll say it again, DO NOT DO THIS.

*****UPDATE 3/26 Below*****

We will start with his webage.

image

The first image in the slideshow is an ad for his wedding photography.

image

This image is from esh photgraphy in Canberra.

image

The second image in the slideshow is an ad for boudoir.

image

The image on the far left belongs to SF Connected Photography.  I cannot find the sources to the other two but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out they are stolen as well.

image

The third image in the slideshow is an ad for senior photography.

image

The third image appears to be from a stock site, it is seen on many foreign language websites, this one is just one of the many where this image appears.

image

The fourth image just made me laugh.  I somehow highly doubt that Blake Lively went to some random photographer for her senior portraits in Illinois.  This image is everywhere and impossible to find the original source to (well it could be possible but I don’t have that kind of time).  This site is one of the many, many sites this image appears on.

image

image

The second page of galleries (I couldn’t find sources for the first page).

image

The entrance image to the boudoir section is an image from honeybourne intimates that seems to be everywhere without credit.

Now onto Facebook.

image

I’m quickly finding that the images that he has stolen are awfully pixelated.

image

This image is from Model Mayhem but I cannot find the original source.

image

This is the next image from Facebook.

image

This image is from Hollye Schumacher and appears to be from the Junebug Weddings site.  This is a prime example of why photographers are hesitant anymore to allow bridal blogs to use their works without any kind of watermark, thieves like this one can just lift it easily.  He’s also using this image on his Model Mayhem portfolio.

image

We get to skip down a few to this next image in his gallery that seems just a bit too good to be true.

image

This image is from Tim Hamilton

image

The next sunset image on Joshua’s Facebook.

image

This image is from Joep R.

I’m sure that more on his Facebook and website is stolen but I’m not finding sources, partially I am sure due to his watermarking he has added onto the images.

UPDATE 3/26:

This guy is still heavily using images that are either stock (legally purchased or not, it is still against TOS to display as your own work) or taken from another photographer.

The new gallery page.

New wedding gallery.

The original image is from The Way We Click Photography, here seen on ISPWP (winning #13).

The next image in the slideshow.

It is a stock image of a wedding dress, found online in numerous places.

Another image in the slideshow.

Another stock-type image with numerous sources on the internet.

Surprise, another stock image that apparently other photographers are also using…

Notice his watermark in the corner? Nice touch!

He had to crop the image to get the original watermark out from Dani Dunca Photography.

The next in the gallery… in which we are yet to find a SINGLE image that is his.

Another stock image!

Another…

Stock!

Another…

Stock again!

Fair warning, I’m sick with a nasty cold so if any of this makes no sense whatsoever blame it on the meds and cold.  I’d put this one off but this one is a doozy.

Just when you think that there are no new lows for photo thieves, a new one comes down the pipes.  Enter Paskal Theriault Photography, whom not only steals photographs for his website but also uses the stolen works in ads in magazines.  Not just any photographers works either but Jerry Ghionis along with others.  Because if you are going to steal, may as well go for the gold eh?  I’m highly amused because Jerry’s work is pretty well known so the idea that he thought he’d get away with stealing his work and PUBLISHING IT is mind boggling to me.

Update 4/8/13 He appears to be trying to go into food photography now.

image

The full page ad in the Canadian magazine, Mairons-Nous.  This is taken of the actual ad in the magazine.

image

Here is a screen cap of the copy of the ad in the online version of the magazine.

image

The first image in the bottom row belongs to Richard Huynh, http://www.albedophotography.com.au/lauren-and-guy

image

The third image on the bottom row is from Jerry Ghionis - http://www.jerryghionisphotography.com/

I wouldn’t be surprised if the other images are stolen as well but I cannot find their original sources.

Now onto the website…

image

The wedding gallery on Paskal’s website.

image

The first image in the wedding gallery on Paskal’s website.

image

Is Andi Diamond Photography’s image.

image

The next set of images in the wedding gallery on Paskal’s site.

image

The top image belongs to Sun Street Photo.

image

The second image is from Damian Brandon

image

The next set of images from Paskal’s wedding gallery on his website.

image

The first image is from Scott Lewis Photography.

image

The second image is from Just Married Photography.

image

The next image in the gallery on Paskal’s website.

image

This image is stolen from Dustin Leader (black and white on his blog).

image

The last set of images on Paskal’s wedding gallery.

image

They are both on Whistler Photos Video page (but may have been purchased from stock, not 100% sure on this one’s source b/c they are everywhere).

UPDATED 1/17:

Paskal’s website and facebook has been taken down and he has emailed apologies to the photographers he stole from.  From the emails I have read, he does seem to be remorseful but of course, that may be because he was caught.  He searched Google for images for his new business venture and used what he found for the ad and his site.  He has offered money to the photographers whom he stole from for the images in the ad, so at least there is that.

Ian Chae Photography aka Playground57

Link:  http://ianchae.com/

This photographer out of Vancouver whom claims to have been in the business for 10 years however doesn’t seem to have a lot to show for it since the work on his website is not his own.  I’m sure since the website seems new-ish that we’ll be getting the “web designer did it” excuse but until then…

The wedding gallery is made up of stunning images, as one can see here.  Too bad none of these are his.  The vast majority are stolen from Otto Schulze Photographers.   I would screencap individually but I’m being lazy tonight.

Update 4/10/13:

He is still around, thus far keeping his nose clean but here are his current websites.

http://playground57.com/

http://www.meelapicks.com/ appears to be his wife but she features his work from time to time.

image

image

Otto = Otto Schulze Photographers
AH = Audrey Hannah Photography
JH = Jessica Hill Photography

Sources for images stolen from Otto (often multiple from the same blog so this is why I’m listing the whole blog).

On3 Images by Tom Swoope

Link:  http://tomswoope.com/ or http://www.on3images.com/
Google Page:  https://plus.google.com/112286953875739171750/about?gl=us&hl=en
You Tube:  http://www.youtube.com/user/tomswoopetv
Smugmug: http://tomswoope.smugmug.com/

On3 Images by Tom Swoope has been caught red handed not only stealing photographs but also stealing text as well.  By the time I was contacted, he was quickly removing the stolen goods but the internet learns quickly and people have been screen capturing and sending it along to me.  When confronted, Tom alleged that the Web Designer did it (of course) but it doesn’t explain how the watermarks got removed.  There is also the problem with the fact that he claims he does web design so one would think even if he didn’t do his own that he would have been combing over things with a fine toothed comb if he outsourced it.  Beyond that, the images that were stolen had the SAME NAME as the source where they were stolen from, that’s kind of too much of a coincidence.

Before going further, I suggest you watch this You Tube video is from one of the people he stole from outlining all of the things that were stolen and the sources.  UPDATE: You Tube removed the video for “bullying” wtf?  It’s now reuploaded to Facebook

Now onto the pictures…

The original images and blog post on Natalie Franke Photography.

The stolen image on the On3 Images website’s wedding gallery.

Seen again on his website under the Investment page as well.

Another image on the same blog post from Natalie Franke Photography.

Seen here again on On3 Images website.

The original images on Jake Holt Photography’s website.

 Seen on On3 Images website.

The Google Place page for On3 Images.  As you will see, Natalie Franke’s image is the main image for this page, which we’ve shown as stolen above.

Another stolen image on the google page from Raw Photo Design.

Yet another image stolen on the Google Place page from Raw Photo Design

Another set of images stolen from Jay Premack Photography as seen on the Google Place page.

A sample of what was on his Facebook Page before it was taken down by Facebook, as you can see, there were more stolen images with his watermark on them.

Update 9/25:

Now that my wedding edit from Saturday is exporting I decided to check out and see how much of the word content on On3 Images site was stolen.  It didn’t take long to find the answer to that.

The bio on La Dolce Vita’s website

The intro to the wedding section on On3 Images site - looks familiar, yes?

I also found his Smugmug Gallery, which also has stolen goods.

This image on Chloe Moore Photography is on a blog post of a bunch of fun photo booth pictures.

Here is the image on On3’s Smugmug gallery as a sample from the photo booth.   Before I hear the requisite “oh that’s a sample Smugmug left” I want to nip that in the bud.  Here you will see this image used for the local Fox Best of Competition.  Here they are using the image on their Yelp Page.  He’s also using it on his LinkedIn Profile.

UPDATE 9/26

Tom Swoope has finally emerged with his apology, of sorts.  In summary, he’s blaming his web designer whom told him he was purchasing the images and Tom innocently assumed that he did because he wanted to appear to a more mutlicultral demographic because he claims the area he is from is very segregated.

Here’s the thing, he’s in my market and it is NOT very segregated.  I’ve shot a ton of various cultures in this area and never have had an issue with that aspect of my career.  Furthermore, if indeed he DID purchase these images for his new online presence, how did these images make it over to his multiple online accounts that are separated from his website including Facebook, Yelp, LinkedIn and Smugmug?  I’m calling BS.  Apologize and leave it at that.

Beyond that, I’ve yet to see or hear of ANYONE referring to his race or any sort of slander and I’ve got quite a few emails going with the people whom have been affected. If this is happening, it is a shame but it’s not from any of the sources that I have been in contact whom were directly involved with the theft of their copyrighted works.

Let this be a lesson to anyone and everyone: if it is not your image that you took with your own camera DO NOT ALLOW IT TO BE USED ON YOUR WEBSITE IF YOU ARE A PHOTOGRAPHER.  Simple as that.  Even if the above reasoning is true, I can’t imagine why any photographer would want to display works that were not theirs on their website.  Beyond the fact that it is morally wrong, what do you tell your clients when they notice their images do not look like the ones you are displaying?  There is NO good that can come from this.  At all.

This next submission I’ve been flooded with today by multiple photographers, including the photographers that had their images stolen.  From what they are telling me, this guy is a repeat offender and every time he gets caught he comes back with more.   His site is full of stock images as well as stolen works.  Much of the advice columns are stolen as well.

Both of these sites use flash, which makes finding your photos a bit trickier but since this person had also uploaded the images to Instaproofs Google had crawled the images allowing the reverse image lookup to work.  One of the owners found this out and screen captured all of the images she found that were stolen of hers and others on Facebook.  Gallery one: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10102206232633994.3546238.8328224&type=1 and gallery two: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10102206742731754.3546316.8328224&type=3

Photography by Linds’ Lens

Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/L2Photo

Another photographer sent in a submission about this particular thief.  The saddest part of this is that it appears that this fauxtog was able to get these images to use because blogs require photographers to submit without watermarks, therefore leaving out images unprotected for cases such as these.  As you will see, many of these images were taken from Delightfully Engaged/My Wedding.com where they ask for no watermarks on submissions.  Even the majority of her words on her site are plagiarized, as you will see that her session guide is an exact copy of this guide by Lin & Jirsa (may not be theirs though, it’s all over the internet apparently).

Lovely image on Linds’s page right?   Here’s the original watermarked image from the photographer (link in sources).

Melissa Roper Photography

Link:  http://www.melissaroperphotography.co.uk/

This girl is happy to announce she is offering to photograph (and video!) weddings this year for free (yes you read that right) to build her portfolio.  She even offers two photographers for the price of none - per her website.  My personal favorite is that she is urging clients to hire her even if they already have hired a photographer as she says she’ll stay out of their hair.  Suuuuuuureeee.  Here’s my favorite part of her FAQ though, “Are all of the pictures on this website your own? No, the images currently on this website we’re taken by Robin Bradshaw of Bullet Photography. They are a representation of the photojournalistic style I aspire too and they are temporary whilst I build my portfolio in 2012.”

Well… at least she is honest in her dishonesty.  Too bad it’s pretty hidden so unless you are actively looking for it, you wouldn’t know it was NOT her work being shown.   The photographer she stole from did NOT give her permission nor did she credit her exactly as you will see in the source.

UPDATE:

Her site is now down.

Only Art Photography

Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/umit.erkan.demircan

This submission came from the online form, thank you!!!!  It appears that a lot of the images are coming from photographers in Australia and a lot of commercial images and often steal from the same photographer multiple times. Each gallery is made up of many pictures, all appear to be stolen as the original photographers are not listed in the people who are working for this company.
